
About The Event
This June’s BONK! event will be held at the Root River Environmental Education Community Center (REC), 1301 W 6th St, on Saturday, June 4th from 6 pm to 8 pm. (Doors open at 5:30pm) Curated and hosted by Jen Simpkins, BONK! will feature live musician Sandee Jean and a community open mic.
BONK! Is excited to be back in person for the first time since the Covid-19 outbreak. This will be an outdoor event held at the Root River Environmental Education Community Center. Masks will be required in certain areas so please bring a suitable mask. The event will showcase the talent of our community with an open mic. Performance slots are first come, first served. The night will also play host to Sandee Jean, a live musician from Southeast Wisconsin. Guests are encouraged to bring a snack or dessert to pass for the snack pot-luck. BONK! Merchandise will be available for purchase with all proceeds of sticker sales going to NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness).
About The Performer
Sandee Jean is a singer/songwriter from Southeastern Wisconsin. With influences including Fiona Apple, Tori Amos, Nina Simone, and Lauryn Hill, Sandee’s sultry vocals and rhythmic piano compositions make for a beautiful and unique listening experience from an exceptional new musician.
About The Venue
The Root River Environmental Education Community Center (REC) was founded in 2008 as a partnership between the University of Wisconsin-Parkside and the City of Racine. Serving local residents, families, students, and youth groups, the REC seeks to promote appreciation, positive interaction, and responsible stewardship of the Root River and surrounding land (watershed) by providing residents and visitors with educational and recreational opportunities.
